MONDELLO PARK 'BECOME A RACING DRIVER COMPETITION'

Please note the competition is for novice racers only and is not open to any driver who holds or has previously held a Car Racing Competition Licence.

The Competition

Mondello Park and Sheane Cars 'Become a Racing Driver' competition will take place between now and the end of November 2011 with the final to be held before the beginning of the 2012 Motor Racing season.

Drivers will have to go through at least two rounds of competition to win the prize of a fully paid for season in Formula Sheane races at Mondello Park during 2012.

The first round of the competition will take the form of a specially adapted version of the Mondello Park Motor Racing School course whereby drivers will receive tuition in one of our fleet of Mazda 3 Hatchbacks before taking to the track in a Formula Sheane single seater.

At least one driver from each day that the course runs, will be chosen to go forward to the second round and the decision as to who progresses will not be solely based on lap times, i.e. who is the quickest.

Drivers will be observed by instructors throughout the day and assessed on their consistency, speed, racing line and control of the car. In addition, from round two onwards there will be an interview stage where each drivers PR ability, understanding of the techniques they have been thought and suitabiltiy to represent Sheane Cars and Mondello Park will be assessed.

The second round of the competition will be free of charge to all the selected drivers and will be the final round of the competition unless a further tie-break is required to make a decision between a short list of drivers. From the final round one driver will be chosen as the winner and will compete in all 2012 Irish Formula Sheane rounds at Mondello Park.
