| DRIVER SAFETY & TRAINING PROGRAMME Our Driver Safety & Training Programmeis a half-day course which covers the following areas: Vehicle & Road Safety Classroom Session This element demonstrates some of what has been discussed in the classroom as well as introducing some practicle tests for participants. Brake Reaction Tester Here, all participants will have the opportunity to try out our Brake Reaction Trester, where we will measures the time it takes a driver to move their foot from the accelerator to the brake pedal in an emergency. We then show the driver how far the car will travelled at a given speed while they were attempting to apply the brakes. Braking Distances We then demonstrate the emergency braking distance of two cars. Participants are asked to estimate the stopping distance of the car and we then do two emergency stops 40kph and then 90kph. We do this twice with two very different cars. The first is a modern car with all the associated safety systems and the second is an older car with no ABS, EBD or Traction Control. This is done to demonstrate how much further it takes to stop a car when the safety systems are not in place or are compromised as can happen in snow or on ice. Skid Car All participants have a short drive in the skid car where Understeer and Oversteer are demonstrated and explained again. Drivers are then shown how to react when these situations occur. Traction Control & Electronic Stability Ccontrol One of our drivers using a modern car with ABS, Traction Control and Electronic Stability Control, drives the participants through a short course with an obstacle which must be negotiated at speed. This is done twice, first with the systems active and the second time with the systems deactivated. This gives the participants an understanding of the safety systems on the car and what they actually do! Driver Observation One of our instructors will take each student in their own car for a lap of the Mondello Park circuit. This is done as if driving on a public road while our instructor monitors the following: - Driving Position - Throttle Control - Braking - Steering Where necessary, advice is offered to the driver on each topic and they are encouraged to ask the instructor about any of the features on their car which they may not be fully familiar with, or ones where they do not understand what the system and its control are designed to do. Car Safety Check While the group is in the classroom, our technicians check each of their cars and complete a check sheet which includes; - Tyre brand & quality. - Mix of tyres on same axle. - Tyre condition, thread dept and pressure. - Oil Level. - Water Level. - Washer fluid. - Brake Fluid level. - Lights. At the end of the course we return to the classroom for a debrief, where we advise the participants of any anomalies with their cars. Mondello Park is in a position to deliver such a high quality course through our extensive experience testing tyres and safety systems on cars, for the various tyre companies and car distributors who regularly use our facilities. The cost per person is €150 which includes Tea/Coffee on arrival, and during the day. NEED MORE INFO??? Why not contact our Corporate Sales team who will be able to answer all your questions.
